Today in June 30th 2016 , it’s the last day of my internship at the Social Street , I have decided to end it a week early as I am going on a holiday to Kasauli , where a lot more adventure awaits , more because I feel I have learnt what I could have from this Internship.

I still remember some time ago , when I was looking for an internship , I was totally excited to go to Goa for the internship , already had filled the form and had been shortlisted for interview. Then suddenly I saw this opening in The Social Street , what a queer name , I thought and ignored it . Apparently my buddy filled the form for me and next day I was of three shortlisted , I was shocked and yet pleased somehow , at least the name is nice ;) .

I kept interviewing and looking for an internship , and after the whole process ended , my plan of for Goa was in dumps and insecurity resulted in me deciding that I’ll be doing 3 internships at the same time. Well I got back to my senses and decided 2 would be enough :P.

The day came to join The Social Street , 6th May 2016 , met our mentor and boss , an alumnus of my college, we discussed about our role , went out for lunch , had the best parsi food I’ve ever eaten. One thing that all the three interns did remember was the warning , that it is going to be difficult , and this made us nervous and excited for tomorrow.

Next day , we got our work , a straight out competition between us and a 10 years of experience developer , to remake that software that he has made.We decided we’ll use Java GUI . Using Netbeans we started creating the software , all was good , till when we reached a point where we could not make the application the way we wished it to be , and all the time on first day went on solving that , all three of us trying to find the solution , from afternoon to night to late night , my intern mates cum batch mates cum room mates and I were completely and utterly tensed , first day went extremely bad , and now we all were thinking of packing our bags and go back , we’re not cut out for this. Finally 3 in the night , I was experimenting and as a last gap hope I decided to try Visual Studio , and it did what we wanted the software to do , uff , finally I could sleep , we had a new start next day , and then through lots of ups and downs , we somehow knew ,we would do this somehow.

Another thing that intrigued me was the fact that every one here was doing weird stuff , I mean I was working in a marketing agency , and all I could see around was people talking about passports and visa to the customers , as well as about infrastructure , we creating software , nobody was really doing Marketing stuff , and that was a mystery to my initially , finally during one of the parties that we had with our mentor , that I finally understood that marketing is more than what we thought it was. Complete perception changed , and oh that Visa and Passport sellers they were another start up operating from our office.

During this time I met lots of people , organized an Alumni Meet , way better than my expectations , met so many alumni , made new friends , bumped into some new ones , tried stuff I’ve never done before , met my extended family , after such long time , that everything I remembered was back 7 -8 years ago.Received a TEDx licence and almost a heart attack with that.

A lot of things I could not do , I don’t understand why I am not able to talk to people as well as I would like to , I get scared so quickly , and how I envy people who maintain friendships , I always some how lose friends. Well that’s me. Still at least I have improved a lot, and looking forward to my role as consultant to The Social Street , and I’m freaking about Kasauli trip , so many first stored in them ;) .
